Refuse

At least once a week I ride over to the turtle ponds, and every visit turns up twenty or more alcohol cans and bottles along the shore. That’s usual by now.
What’s unusual is finding several bags of household garbage dumped just uphill, some already broken open by animals. A few winter storms would have carried much of the plastic into the pond.
It took two trips on two separate days with the bike trailer. Three bags of refuse came out, each one large and none of them pleasant to be downwind of, along with 53 recyclables from around the pond.
The hill where the garbage was dumped is private property, so the city won’t clean it up. Picking it out of the pond later is much harder work than wheeling the bike up now.

Notable Finds
