Moving Downstream

This afternoon we headed to the Speed River for a fall cleanup.
Julia got in the river in her waders and quickly found fishing lures and beer cans. The kid and I walked the shoreline. In a bit over an hour as a team we pulled 9 kg of plastic debris from the water and shore: bags, flooring, a lantern, a wash basin, and a paddle that resembles the one in our logo.
The biggest thing in the river is still there: an enormous tractor tire in the middle of the channel.
I’ve been tracking this tire for two years as it works its way downstream, and today we found it again.
It will take two of us and a fair bit of leverage to move it. We’re going back tomorrow.
