Weekend Cleanup

For Father’s day weekend we cleaned two areas of the Speed River we haven’t explored before. It was extremely rewarding because we got to see a nesting snapping turtle — right next to a stagnant stream filled with garbage. We were able to fetch most of the debris from the shore: three big bags filled with insulation foam, umbrellas, canteens, and various plastics.
We also removed 26 cans and bottles from the shore, but there’s lots more debris that still needs attention.
