Back on Guelph Lake

Took the board out on Guelph Lake for a cleanup pass. A lot of debris accumulated since our last paddle cleanup less than a month ago. Some of the remote beaches across the Island were more litter than gravel in spots.

The haul this time: deflated pool floaties, a sock collection nobody asked for, assorted underwear, a stray pair of slippers, and enough drink cans to start a small recycling depot.

One small interesting souvenir: a “paper” cup that had spent enough time exposed to the elements that only its plastic inner lining survived. The paper had disintegrated entirely, leaving a ghost-cup of plastic film: the same lining that degrades when exposed to hot liquid, releasing microplastics and heavy metals with every sip.
